(Completion 2013 in collaboration with Rogers Marvel Architects)
Set in the historic 1923 Braniff building in downtown Oklahoma City, Kitchen No. 324 seeks to maintain a balance between clean modern design and the beautiful detailing and historic bones of the existing space. We worked closely with local artisans to restore the existing ornate plaster ceiling coffers. The lighting fixtures, made in NYC by Modulightor, were the perfect solution to an ornamental chandelier that does not compete with the intricacy of the ceiling plane. The concept of “Kitchen” was important here – as the kitchen is turned inside out and displayed to the diners. We worked with local carpenters and upholsterers to craft all of the food display fixtures as well as the large scale seating elements. The custom designed banquettes are a modern interpretation of traditional tufting patterns and the rich dark green Kvadrat fabric is the perfect background for the dining area.
